IAIK student Peter Grassberger has been awarded a funding of 6.000€ for a project extending his Master’s Thesis. The funding is provided by Digitale TU Graz and Vice Rector for Digitalisation and Change Management Claudia von der Linden.
In his project, Mr. Grassberger develops a system which enables students to receive their graduation diploma (e.g. Bachelor’s Degree) or course transcript in digital form. The student can then share their diplomas electronically with universities or future employers.

IAIK student Martin Schwarzl has received an award for this year’s best master thesis by the “Forum Technik und Gesellschaft” of the TU Graz. His work focuses on the IT-security leak NetSpectre. Find out more about it here.

Security researchers at IAIK, Moritz Lipp, Daniel Gruss and Michael Schwarz, together with an international team have once again uncovered a serious security hole in computer processors. With the new security hole published under the name “Load Value Injection”, there is another method to read out sensitive data. You an find the whole article HERE.

The Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) annually honours the best 50 (out of 16.000!) Austrian Master’s theses with a “Würdigungspreis/Staatspreis”. This year, IAIK doctoral student Barbara Gigerl received the award for her thesis “Automated Analysis of Speculation Windows in Spectre Attacks”. The main focus of the thesis is the analysis and extension of speculation windows in Spectre attacks, executed by CPUs of four different vendors.
