We are thrilled to announce that Maria Eichlseder has completed her tenure track and has been promoted to associate professor as of February 1st, 2025!
Maria joined our institute in 2019 as an assistant professor. She dedicates her research to the design and cryptanalysis of symmetric cryptographic algorithms, such as hash functions and authenticated encryption algorithms and their underlying primitives.
In February of 2023, Ascon – a lightweight authenticated cipher she co-designed – was selected by NIST as the new standard for lightweight cryptography. She has received several awards for her work, including the Hedy Lamarr Award. Last year, Maria received an ERC grant – her project KEYLESS started this January and will continue until 2029!
Thank you for your commitment, and most of all: Congratulations!
